A Week in Nova Scotia: Costal Charm, Ice Cream Dreams & Seaside Scenes
Share
Nova Scotia gave us the perfect mix of salty air, scenic drives, and all the coastal charm a girl could ask for. If you’re looking for a dreamy East Coast getaway, here’s a little recap of how we spent a week exploring some of Nova Scotia’s most charming spots—from seaside dinners to art-filled streets and future cottage daydreams.
Halifax by Ferry & Sunset Dinners
We kicked off our trip with a ferry ride into downtown Halifax. There’s something magical about pulling into the harbor at golden hour—boats bobbing, the skyline glowing. We grabbed a seafood dinner right on the water (because you have to eat lobster at least once here), then wandered over to the Beer Garden to meet up with friends and grab dessert.
Lunenburg Day Trip: History Meets Ice Cream
One of our favorite days was spent exploring Lunenburg—a colorful, historic town that looks straight out of a storybook. We boarded the iconic Bluenose II, popped into every art gallery we passed (Nova Scotia is full of artists!), and shopped for fun coastal decor we definitely told ourselves we needed. The real cherry on top? Moon Mist ice cream. It’s a Maritimes must-try—whimsical, pastel, and only found out here.
Chester: Where Cottage Dreams Begin
On another sunny afternoon, we cruised through Chester, a dreamy town that feels like a secret. We drove by lakeside homes, pointed out our favorites, and started planning our future summer cottage (manifestation is real, right?). Chester is peaceful and posh in the best way—definitely worth the detour.
Fisherman’s Cove Finale
We wrapped up the trip with a slow, sweet day at Fisherman’s Cove, just outside of Halifax. It’s a tiny, colorful coastal village where you can fish off the docks, shop local, or grab an ice cream cone and just soak in the ocean air. A perfect end to a perfect trip.
If You’ve Got Extra Time:
Here are a few other spots we’d add to your Nova Scotia bucket list:
📍 Tidal Bore Rafting – yes, you can ride a wave down a river. Wild.
📍 PEI Day Trip – just a short drive and ferry away, perfect for a one-day detour to red cliffs and Anne of Green Gables dreams.
📍 Kejimkujik National Park – if you want a forest moment, with kayaking, trails, and serious nature therapy.
📍 The Cabot Trail – if you’ve got wheels and a few days, this coastal drive will ruin you for all other road trips (in the best way).
