Bali, Indonesia: A Journey Through Culture, Connection & Curated Style
Share
Out of everywhere I’ve been, Bali continues to hold one of the most special places in my heart. The island pulses with a culture so rich in kindness, reverence, and intentionality that it feels almost sacred. The Balinese way of life — grounded in community, spirituality, and a deep respect for nature — is a reminder of what it means to live with purpose. If you're craving a tropical escape that both grounds and rejuvenates you, this is where I’d send you in a heartbeat.
Beyond the beauty, it’s a place that invites you to slow down, soak up every detail, and yes — dress the part. Throughout this post, I’ll share not only our travel itinerary but also a few pieces that would be perfect for your own Bali adventure. Because travel is more than just going — it’s about feeling your best, inside and out.
Seminyak & the Sacred Temples (Day 1)
We began our journey in Seminyak, waking up to soft ocean air and the vibrant pulse of the town. Our first day took us to Taman Ayun Temple, a peaceful compound surrounded by a lotus-filled moat — a serene introduction to Balinese spirituality. From there, we visited Tanah Lot, an iconic Hindu temple perched on a dramatic offshore rock formation. It houses a sacred freshwater spring, and standing there with the ocean crashing below felt utterly surreal.
For a temple day, I’d recommend a lightweight set like our Hamptons Linen Set — modest, breathable, and effortlessly chic for sacred spaces.
Island Escapes: Nusa Penida & Kelingking Beach (Day 2)
Day two was its own adventure — a ferry ride over to Nusa Penida where we navigated narrow, cliffside roads (Bali’s version of a rollercoaster) to reach the iconic Kelingking Beach. You've probably seen the photos — the cliff shaped like a T-Rex's spine, turquoise waters crashing below — but nothing prepares you for how jaw-droppingly beautiful it is in person. The hike down is not for the faint of heart, and crowds can make the return trek tricky, so be strategic with timing.
Think airy sets or easy jumpsuits here — our Pass Me A Mint Set was made for views like this!
The Heart of Bali: Ubud & Cultural Immersion (Day 3)
Next, we headed north to Ubud, a lush jungle town filled with artisan shops, buzzing cafés, and more monkeys than you can count. This was hands-down our favorite city — less about the coast and more about connection. One of the most meaningful parts of our trip was a hands-on cooking class in Subak Guilang, where we gathered ingredients straight from the farm and learned traditional Balinese recipes from a local chef. Afterward, we explored the rice fields and gained insight into their centuries-old farming practices. It was grounding, humbling, and beautiful.
Mindful Mornings & Sacred Rituals (Day 4)
We rose early and walked to The Yoga Barn, one of Ubud’s most iconic open-air studios. Practicing yoga while jungle sounds echoed all around was a deeply restorative moment — the kind of peace that stays with you.
Later that day, we visited Tampak Siring Temple, known for its holy spring waters used for purification rituals. Being part of such a sacred experience was incredibly moving. We ended the day exploring the Tegalalang Rice Terraces, where layers upon layers of emerald green stretched to the horizon. It’s hard to describe how breathtaking it really is.
Adventure in the Jungle (Day 5)
For thrill-seekers, day five was a dream. We zipped through the jungle on ATVs before heading out for river tubing down the Siap River. Floating through the dense forest with nothing but birdsong and rushing water around us? It felt like stepping into another world.
Volcano Sunrises & Natural Springs (Day 6)
We woke up at 3:30 a.m. for a sunrise hike up Mt. Batur, Bali’s active volcano. While the weather was a bit cloudy, we were lucky enough to catch a break and witness the sunrise over the caldera — a quiet moment of awe and accomplishment. After the descent, we headed to the Mt. Batur Hot Springs, where warm mineral waters and panoramic lake views welcomed us.
After a long hike, nothing beats throwing on a cozy oversized tee or hoodie like our Zaddy's Money Sweater— perfect for post-trek relaxation.
Cliffside Serenity & Sunset Performance (Day 7)
We closed out the trip with an evening at Uluwatu Temple, a sea temple dramatically perched 230 feet above the Indian Ocean. As the sun dipped below the horizon, waves crashed against the cliffs and the sky turned to gold. The night ended with the Kecak Fire Dance, a mesmerizing traditional performance by over a hundred men chanting and moving in perfect rhythm. It was the perfect exhale to our journey.
Up Close with Giants: A Dreamy Final Day (Bonus Day)
On our last day in Bali, we made a memory I’ll never forget — visiting the Mason Elephant Park & Lodge. This sanctuary is home to rescued Sumatran elephants, and getting to feed them, walk alongside them, and even help give one a bath was pure magic. The elephants were so gentle and intelligent, and the bond they share with their caretakers was beautiful to witness. Being able to connect with these incredible animals up close was truly a dream come true and the perfect way to end our trip on the most heart-filled note.
If you're planning a visit, wear something you don’t mind getting a little wet — like pairing our Nantucket Set with sandals for a playful, practical look.
Final Thoughts
A full week in Bali struck the perfect balance between soul-stirring adventure and peaceful restoration. There’s so much more to discover, but these seven days offered a glimpse into why Bali is so beloved. From the kindness of its people to the richness of its traditions, I can’t recommend it enough.
