Cruising the Nile: Our Dreamy Egypt Adventure
Share
Our trip to Egypt felt like stepping into a history book—except warmer, dustier, and far more magical. While we’re typically the type to pack in adventure and beach days, this trip was something completely different… and unforgettable. If you’re a history lover or even just someone who’s curious about ancient wonders, Egypt will absolutely capture your heart.
Arrival in Cairo
Flights to Egypt often land in the middle of the night, so we made a smart call and booked a stay at the Le Méridien Cairo Airport—a seamless walk from arrivals and the perfect place to rest up before jumping into sightseeing mode.
Day 1: The Great Pyramids & The Sphinx
We started strong with an early morning visit to the Great Pyramids of Giza. Being the first ones to enter that day made it feel extra special—like the entire site was ours for a moment. Walking inside the pyramids, touching the ancient stones, and just being there was surreal.
Afterward, we rode camels near the pyramids—yes, like full tourist mode and we loved every second. If I had a do-over, I’d book a longer camel trek for the full experience. We wrapped the day with a visit to the majestic Sphinx, another pinch-me moment that made us fall even deeper in love with Egypt’s timeless magic.
Style tip: The desert sun is no joke—pack something breathable and chic, like our Drift Away Skirt, to stay cool and cute.
Day 2: Aswan & Temple of Philae
We flew south to Aswan, where the vibe shifted into something even more serene. We checked into a hotel right on the Nile River and set sail on a traditional felucca boat. Our destination? The dreamy Temple of Philae, perched on its own island. We wandered through ancient halls, admired the hieroglyphics (and maybe attempted to decode a few), and cooled off with popsicles in the Egyptian sun.
Lunch was served at a small cliffside village—a home-cooked meal that hit the spot and gave us a peek into everyday life.
A perfect set would be our Nantucket Set for a perfect sail boat ride outfit!
Day 3: Boarding the Nile Cruise
Cruise time! We checked into our Nile river cruise and started sailing north toward Luxor. First stop: Kom Ombo Temple, known for its dual dedication to two different gods. This one felt more intimate and full of fascinating stories. Then it was back to the sun deck—hello, poolside views of the Nile!
We have the perfect accessory to dress up the poolside outfit! Check out our Cairo Statement Necklace for the perfect amount of chunk!
Day 4: Luxor & The Grand Temples
Docking in Luxor, we explored the awe-inspiring Temple of Karnak and Luxor Temple, which includes the Great Temple of Amun-Re and the Avenue of the Sphinxes. The scale of these structures was truly jaw-dropping. We also visited a local papyrus shop to see how ancient Egyptians created paper and stopped by a gold store (pro tip: Egypt is known for its high-quality gold—don’t leave without something shiny!).
Day 5: Valley of the Kings & (Almost) a Balloon Ride
We crossed to Luxor’s west bank to visit the Valley of the Kings, the burial grounds of ancient pharaohs. Yes—we saw King Tutankhamun’s tomb, and also Queen Hatshepsut’s, and it felt like a scene straight out of a movie. We had plans for a hot air balloon ride over the desert at sunrise, but a sandstorm grounded us—maybe next time!
Style Tip: Wear some breathable pants or a flowy dress and bring a hair scarf to really bring out that Egyptian style! We would recommend our Spring Breeze Pants!
Day 6: Museum Day & Final Goodbyes
Sadly, I was down for the count this day—hydration in Egypt is no joke! But the rest of the group explored the Egyptian Museum in Cairo, home to thousands of ancient artifacts, including King Tut’s famous golden mask. They ended the trip at the breathtaking Muhammad Ali Mosque, perched high above the city.
Egypt was unlike anywhere I’ve ever been. If you love a deep dive into culture, spirituality, and world-changing history, this is a destination you’ll never forget. I left with a new appreciation for ancient civilizations, a camera roll full of once-in-a-lifetime views, and a deep sense of awe.
